17. Vending Machines

1) Target Scope:

Vending machines for beverages in cans and bottles. Vending machines on ships and trains, that dispense drinks in paper or cup shaped containers, countertop types, and for alcoholic drinks other than beer are excluded.

2) Energy Consumption Efficiency:

Energy consumption efficiency is annual power consumption (kWh/year) measured as specified by JIS B8561.

3) Category and Target Values:

Machines for hot and cold (Internal depth is less than 400 mm)	E = 2.18Va - 214
Machines for hot and cold (Internal depth is more than 400 mm)	E = 0.876Va + 527

Remarks:

"Machines serving cold only" refers to vending machines that refrigerate the products sold.
"Machines serving hot or cold" refers to vending machines that refrigerate or warm the products sold.
"Machines for hot and cold" refers to vending machines that refrigerate and warm products. Machines have warm section and cold sections separated by an inside partition.
E, V, and Va express the following numeric values.
E: Standard energy consumption efficiency (unit: kWh/year)
V: Actual internal volume (indicates the numeric value based on the internal dimensions of the goods storage area) (unit: l)
Va: Adjusted internal volume(indicates numeric value acquired first by multiplying the actual internal volume of the heating cabinet by 40, which is divided by 11, and then by adding the result to actual internal volume of the chill box) (unit: liter)

4) Target Fiscal Year:

2005

5) Energy Conservation Effects:

Approximately 33.9% improvement in efficiency compared to 2000 levels by 2005.

6) Display Items:

Product name and type, category, actual internal volume (restricted to machines serving cold only, or hot or cold), adjusted internal volume (restricted to machines for hot and cold), energy consumption efficiency, manufacturer's name

7) Place of Display:

Product bodies and catalogues that show performance data

8) Exemption:

Manufacturers or importers that ship less than 300 units in total are excluded, but display obligations must be met regardless of the number of units shipped.
