10. Electric Refrigerators

  1) Target Scope:
  Electric refrigerators stipulated under JISC9801, which use thermo-elements, produced for industrial use, and absorption types are excluded.

  2) Energy Consumption Efficiency:
  Energy consumption efficiency is annual power consumption (kWh/year) measured as specified in JIS C9801 15, power consumption tests.

  3) Category and Target Values:

Category

Standard energy consumption efficiency calculation formula

Refrigerators (natural connection type*1)

E = 0.427V + 178

Refrigerators (forced circulation type*2)

E = 0.472V + 178

Refrigerator-freezers (natural connection type)

E = 0.433V + 320

Refrigerator-freezers (forced circulation type using the specified technology)

E = 0.507V + 147

Refrigerator-freezers (forced circulation type using no specified technology)

E = 0.433V + 340

Remarks:

  1. E and V express the following numerical values:
    E: Standard energy consumption efficiency (unit: kWh/year)
    V: Adjusted internal volume (the figure acquired first by multiplying rated internal volume of the freezer by either 2.15 for three-star type freezers, 1.85 for two-star type freezers, or 1.55 for one-star type freezers, and then by adding the result to rated internal storage volume for other than freezers) (unit: liter)
  2. "Specified technology" refers to inverter or vacuum insulation technology.

  4) Target Fiscal Year:
  2004

  5) Energy Conservation Effects:
  Approximately 30% improvement in efficiency compared to 1998 levels by 2004.

  6) Display Items:
  Electric refrigerator displays are based on the Household Goods Quality Labeling Law (1962 law no. 104), and are not specified by the Law concerning the Rational Use of Energy.
Rated internal volume, power consumption, frame dimensions, instructions for use, prominent position instructions placed on the product body or in the instruction manual

  *1

Refrigerator models that refrigerate food directly by internal walls that function as the evaporator in the frozen food storage section, but if two-door types, an evaporator in the fresh food storage section is necessary in addition to the evaporator in the frozen food storage section.
  *2 Refrigerator models that have an evaporator in the back of the frozen food storage section. Cold air is generated by the fan and distributed to each section of the frozen food storage section and the fresh food storage section.
