7. Video Cassette Recorders

1) Target Scope:

Limited to items that use an AC power supply. VCRs for industrial use, VCRs that process electronic audio and video signals in digital form, VCRs that process electronic signals with 1,125 or more scanning lines, VCRs that are structurally equipped only with playback functions, and VCRs that have built-in digital broadcasting receivers are excluded.

2) Energy Consumption Efficiency:

Energy consumption efficiency is a numeric value obtained by subtracting a value multiplied by 0.2 from the difference between standby energy consumption during a display state and standby energy consumption during non-display state when not in display mode (W) from standby power consumption in which clock's display functions are displayed.

Approximately 58.7% improvement in standby power compared to 1997 levels by 2003.

8) Exemption:

Manufacturers or importers that ship less than 5,000 units in total are excluded, but display obligations must be met regardless of the number of units shipped.
