6. Magnetic Disk Units

1) Target Scope:

Magnetic disk units stipulated under the Japan Standard Commodity Classification. Equipment with less than 1 GB of memory, disks less than 40 mm in diameter, and models with maximum data transfer speeds of over 3,200 MB/s are excluded.

2) Energy Consumption Efficiency:

Energy consumption efficiency is a numeric value acquired by dividing power consumption (W) by memory capacity (GB).

Remarks:

E and N express the following numerical values:
E: Standard energy consumption efficiency
N: Number of rotations (units: rpm)
"In" refers to logarithm that expresses the base as "e".

2005

5) Energy Conservation Effects:

Approximately 78% improvement in efficiency compared to 1997 levels by 2005

6) Display Items:

Product name or type, category, energy consumption efficiency, manufacturer's name, description of energy consumption efficiency

7) Place of Display:

Catalogues that provide performance data. Documents provided by manufacturers when selecting equipment.

8) Exemption:

Manufacturers or importers that ship less than 5,000 units in total are excluded, but display obligations must be met regardless of the number of units shipped.
