1. Air Conditioners

1) Target Scope:

Air conditioners, heaters and air conditioners. Excludes equipment using energy sources other than electricity for heating, types whose cooling capacity is over 28 kW, water-cooled types, and others stipulated under Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry ordinances.

2) Energy Consumption Efficiency:

Cooling energy consumption efficiency is a numeric value obtained by calculating cooling capacity as measured in the manner stipulated by Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) B8615-1 or B8615-2, divided by cooling power consumption measured in the same way (known as COP).
For air conditioners/heaters, it is a numeric value acquired by calculating total cooling energy consumption efficiency and heating energy consumption efficiency, obtained in the same manner as cooling energy consumption efficiency, divided by two as the average of cooling/heating energy consumption efficiency.

Remarks:

"Ducted type" indicates systems connected to ducts at the outlet.
"Multi type" indicates a type that has two or more indoor units connected to an outdoor unit.

4) Target Fiscal Year:

Refrigerating year 2007: October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007
Refrigerating year 2004 (October 1, 2003 to September 30, 2004)
applies to non-ducted wall-mounted types for cooling/heating of less than 4 kW.

5) Energy Conservation Effects:

In terms of the target year, compared to the 1997 freezing point, efficiency improved by about 63% for air conditioners/heaters and by about 14% for air conditioners.

6) Display Items:

Product name and type, cooling capacity, cooling power consumption, cooling energy consumption efficiency, heating capacity (heating units only), heating power consumption (restricted to heating systems), heating energy consumption efficiency (heating units only), average cooling/heating energy consumption efficiency (heating units only), manufacturer's name

The display of the air -conditioners in the enforcement ordinance of Household Goods Quality Labeling Law (1962 government ordinance No. 390), appendix No. 3 (7) should be in the manner specified under the enforcement ordinance.

Prominent position on the product body

8) Exemption:

Manufacturers or importers that ship less than 500 units in total are excluded, but display obligations must be met regardless of the number of units shipped.
