The 3rd IEA International Workshop on Standby Power was held on 7 - 8 February, 2001 in Tokyo Big Sight Building (Ariake, Tokyo), at the "the 25th ENEX 2001" which is the energy & environment exhibition in Japan.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) , based in Paris, is an autonomous agency linked with the Organization for OECD for pursuing to co-operate internationally in the development of rational energy programs. The Energy Conservation Center, Japan (ECCJ), based in Tokyo, is a public organization to be engaged in promoting toward the efficient use of energy and protection of the global environment under the supervision of the related Ministries of the Japanese Government. This Workshop was a joint conference of IEA and METI (Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry)/ECCJ. The main objectives of this conference were to present the conclusions of the IEA Standby Power Initiative and prepare the ground for follow-up international collaborative activities aimed at improving energy efficiency in the standby power modes of electrical equipment.
