The town which is kind to the earth GINZA COMMUNICATION NEWS Energy saving of summer Ginza street campaign 2003 Energy saving Ginza Make it the town which is kind to the earth This summer, a campaign was held in Ginza. The whole town practiced energy saving by every technique and spread and attracted much attention. The association of Ginza street society cosponsored it. It was local consortium society with the history most in Japan, and it was founded in 1919 (Taisho 8) years. There are 231 members there. People of a member run a store / a company building / an office in routes from 1-8choume and Sukiyabashi of Ginza street to Miharabashi. This campaign is not a simple event. It is for the big result of this campaign to have made an opportunity practicing energy saving to people of a town by this campaign. It was Ginza known as the town which had the advanced fashion, but one already had a new advanced field (energy saving) hereby. We made the energy saving poster which primary schoolchildren & junior high students produced in Harumi street & Ginza street a flag and gave glory. I met the persons that 135 points visited a town chosen as an excellent work in a contest of last year.

The energy saving that a town practices In association of authority of Ginza society, a member of participation checks energy saving of a building to a building and people of a store as "energy saving consulting". In interim report society of "energy saving consulting" of August 1, the members heard an indicator of energy saving promotion of Ginza eagerly.

Energy saving to take off from a town     Children of the Boy Scout around Chuou-ku visited members of participation of association of Ginza street society and offered sticker pasting of "Shouene jisshi chu(We are practicing energy saving)". They did an effort to achieve will of people of a town. In the Ginza Central League Museum, during a campaign period, an exhibition of a poster work was done, and masterpieces of the children who regarded energy saving as earth environment gathered in a cathedral.

Energy saving to participate in in a town We want people visiting Ginza to think about energy saving with us. Therefore there was a plan to support their energy saving practice. Mr.Katsumi asaba which approved of a purpose of this campaign. He wrote support message on "The flag which supports energy saving" which Mr.Katsuhiko Hibino and Mr.Jun Maki produced together. And they presented the flag to association of Ginza street society. There was enrollment invitation to Smart Life CLUB in a Smart Life station made for Sony square. And they raised support messages for a password by "energy saving by art ! ". In ceremony, people had an energy saving badge and presentation of POP from Miss.Nakama, and Chief Director Akira Endo showed a declaration sentence. In the Ginza Central art museum which was exhibition ground of a poster work, a poster lesson was held. Primary schoolchildren & junior high students produced energy saving posters with lecturers including Mr.Asaba.

A town of Ginza carrying out "energy saving" We asked Mr.Akira Endo(The chief director of Association of Ginza street society) A s well as an aim of the 21st century, it is "citizen-based town planning gentleness for a person" that it continues in future, and Ginza aims. What kind of meaning is this "gentleness"? I think energy saving is one of this "gentleness". To clean a town, to Keep the public peace and order, it is so, too. And I think that it is indispensable to do an effort and a device so that a person visiting Ginza can enjoy it. To make this town a town people feel relieved, and to be able to enjoy... If we want to do it so, I think that it had better be it in the town where the people whom a lot of showy decoration and dazzling illumination visited from a certain town are healed. It will be for quality of "having you enjoy" it with a change of the times to change. W e felt it until now , Energy saving is troublesome for us and is troublesome for visitors , too. Therefore the practice was difficult even if we could understand energy-saving necessity. Ginza is a big shopping district not a residential area. Therefore, at first I think that people of Ginza should think that we get understanding of visitors visiting Ginza. However, because interest came out to people of Ginza considering environment, it became give good influence for visitors. In addition, Technical development advanced in Ginza, and result of neither it was comfortable and energy saving had an effect on for a visitor appeared. Now "Energy saving" is not the trouble that you must endure, because energy saving is eco-friendly and reduction of a cost. So it leads to service to visitors we take the lead, and to practice energy saving. We of the side to invite offer agreeableness to a visitor. I think that it is our problem in this sense to aim at coexistence of "usual Ginza" and "new Ginza". B ecause I experienced this campaign, I devised it more and wanted to do to Ginza "gently"for people & earth . It is important that we strongly establish this action to people, and continue it. Therefore, I did every device for think about energy saving with children because a summer vacation just approached, After all, in the campaign period inside, a lot of children came by a weekday. Including energy saving, it is important to continue an action to consider environment. Before long, Energy saving becomes ordinary. Therefore what we should do now is adults let children recognize it well at first , and they must nurse the way of thinking. And I am very glad other a lot of towns refer to our this way, and to act if it spreads. Ginza still possesses the true beauty and strength, and I expect it when it is a flexible advanced town. As an atmosphere of a town that is consideration for the making of environment of "a quality of" Ginza, I still promote energy saving positively.
